Thev Westworld Travel magazine was sent to us (we being Snohomish County Airport – Everett, Washington USA) anonymously because we are on the spring issue on page 12. While researching who had sent it to us (we still do not know) I came across your website and was anxious to see the photos that will be in the calendar. However, since the voting is over, the photos are covered up. Is there another way to see them? I love Canada and my father lives on Vancouver Island. I plan to visit a lot more of your wonderful country. Thank you

Les Dickason – Tulip Farm near Charlottetown. How exciting to see an entry from Canada’s smallest Province, Prince Edward Island. This beautiful tulip field not only is a wonderful photo with vivid colours and great configuration, it also reflects the special connection between two great countries, Holland and Canada. In 1945, Princess Juliana of the Netherlands donated 100,000 tulip bulbs to Ottawa to thank us for our hospitality during the Second World War. Everytime I see a field of tulips it brings this special piece of history to life for me.

I voted for the tulip field. PEI’s landscape is defined by farming, but it’s quirky to see flowers on a farm scale, and the photograph captures elements of cultural diversity, primary industry, rural living and gentle beauty that are Island characteristics and that also reflect traditions that many Canadians hold dear. But most of all, the pretty colours are appealing!

I liked all the photos but I think my favorite would have to be a Canadian shot for a BC calendar.
So my choice is the photo of the Tulip Farm because of the interest, clarity, colors, perspective and depth.

I chose the Sheringham Lighthouse photograph because I love the sea and I like lighthouses. Also, It depicts something in B.C. which seems, to me, to be appropriate, as it is a scene from a B.C. town.

The title of the magazine indicates it is about British Columbia. I feel the pictures should reflect our province and leave the photos of other countries to their tourism media. Let’s celebrate our province in photos!

The Mayan Ruin photo reminds me of the history and beauty that is so present no matter where in Mexico you go. I just want to be there right now when I look at that photo! Especially submerged in that azur blue water.

I loved all the images but my 1st choice is Charles Bridge; a very dramatic eye catching image; excellent composition, contrast between the strong dramatic siloehettes and the soft misty background , and a sense of history that surely needs to be explored. I want to go there!
2nd choice would be the Sherringham Lighthouse because it is in BC (it was written up in the Sat July 18th Travel section of the Vanc. Sun )
.I wonder if ‘Toyota’ would be interested im the Sianai Desert image?!!!

I like Welcome to Barriere .The colours are warm, the Welcome sign features Barriere’s great Fall Fair and Rodeo. There are many rodeos in BC and they are a great tourist attraction .If it weren’t for the Welcome sign I believe many people would continue down that long highway without giving Barriere an opportunity to show it’s stuff. In a way it represents Small Town BC where the main highway passed through;was often the main streetWhen new highways are built the little towns are often bypassed .Without these WELCOME signs travellers have little chance to explore, they just whiz on by but a big Welcome and a cowboy would be a pretty good draw.Considering this is a BC magazine ,this is the ideal cover.

They are all lovely and significant.
I chose the photo of Prague because I love the mystical,ethereal quality and the beauty of shape and colour.
It takes an artists eye and a photographer’s technique to capture that.
The Lighthouse would be my second choice for much the same reasons.

I vote for Sheringham Lighthouse,Sooke BC because I can see it out my living room window,and at night the light flashs every 15 seconds,Reminding me that someone is looking after the world, even in the dark!

I have a picture I want to vote for but I am not sure how other than to describe the one that I like! I am voting for the car picture with all the baggage on top. It completely epitomizes travel and going places, I just love it!

I voted for Lee’s because it seems to be the perfect photo to represent ’seeing the world’! Lots of great pictures though – LOVE the one of Houston…lived there for a few years as a kid and seeing that picture took me right back to the days of walking up the big hill to school on dark, crisp winter mornings!
